From Home Firearms Safety to our Defensive Pistol series, we have a training course to meet your needs.

The NRA New Shooter Seminar exposes new gun owners to the fundamentals of firearm safety. This 60-minute class is a great introduction to the important safety aspects of owning a firearm.

Distance learning with an instructor, via Zoom has been authorized for the NRA New Shooter and Home Firearms Safety. This is a 60-minute presentation for those looking to learn firearm Safety, safe storage and other knowledge for a new gun owner.

Maryland Handgun Qualification License - HQL class offers all training to meet the State of Maryland minimum requirements, in order to apply for an HQL application. Contact us today with any questions.

We now offer the MD HQL live via Zoom.

An in person Live-Fire component is still required to complete the training and will be schedule one-on-one.
Pistol, ammunition, eyes and ear protection are all provided.

The NRA Basics of Pistol Class is our most complete and most popular handgun training class for beginners. We start with the absolute basics, that include everything from pistol purchasing and firearms storage, to skilled shooting fundamentals and range qualification. We’ll be there each step of the way, with your new adventure. Curious to learn more about this program? Get in touch, we’ll be happy to help. Pistol, ammunition, eyes and ear protection are all provided. This is an 8-hr. class with live-fire. Students under the age of 21, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, who is not restricted to own/operate a firearm under State/Federal guidelines. Minimum age requirement is 13.
This course satisfies VA and WV non-resident concealed carry requirements

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

Prerequisite: This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm). Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
Description: This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
Note: Lesson III of this course: Firearms and the Law, and Legal Aspects of Self-Defense, is conducted by an attorney licensed to practice law within the state in which this course is given and who is familiar with this area of the law, or a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO), or an individual currently certified to instruct in this area of the law by the state in which this course is presented.
Students must provide: a .380 or larger caliber handgun in good working order, with at least 3 magazines and mag holsters, an outside the waistband holster specific to your handgun, a sturdy belt, and 100 rounds of factory ammunition.

Our State Specific Concealed Handgun training class covers all State training requirements in order to obtain a resident/non-resident State permit. Completion of this training does not guarantee the State will issue you, a Concealed Handgun permit. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to learn more about this class and the State requirements for obtaining a Concealed Handgun permit.
Note: You must have basic handgun knowledge and be able to demonstrate how to safely use your firearm. This is an advanced concealed carry training class. You should already be proficient with your handgun, prior to taking this class.

Students must provide: a handgun in good working order, with at least 2 magazines, an outside the waistband holster specific to your handgun, a sturdy belt, eye and ear protection, and 75 rounds of factory ammunition.
Initial application is a 2-day (16hr.) class.
Renewal application is a 1-day (8 hr.) class.

Our Washington D.C. Specific Concealed Handgun training class covers all District training requirements in order to obtain a resident/non-resident District permit. Completion of this training does not guarantee the DCP will issue you, a Concealed Handgun permit. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to learn more about this class and the District requirements for obtaining a Concealed Handgun permit in Washington D.C.
Note: You must have basic handgun knowledge and be able to demonstrate how to safely use your firearm. This is an advanced concealed carry training class. You should already be proficient with your handgun, prior to taking this class.

Students must provide: a handgun in good working order, with at least 2 magazines, an outside the waistband holster specific to your handgun, a sturdy belt, and 100 rounds of factory ammunition.
Initial application is a 2-day (16hr.) class.

Teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.
Prerequisite: This course is for adult individuals who are not disqualified from possessing a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law and are of good repute and possess NRA Defensive Pistol or defensive pistol skills presented in the NRA Basics of Personal Protection In The Home Course. Participants must also understand the basic legal concepts relating to the use of firearms in self-defense, and must know and observe not only general gun safety rules, but also those safety principles that are specific to defensive situations. Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Defensive Pistol or NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course Certificate, or by passing the pre-course evaluation.
Description: The course is divided into two levels. Level one (Day-1) is nine-hours and offers the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered in order to carry, store, and use a firearm safely and effectively for personal protection outside the home. Students spend several hours on the range and shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition during level one. Upon completion, students will attend level two (Day-2), which is an additional two hours of classroom and four hours on the range with approximately 175 rounds of ammunition learning advanced shooting skills. Time and ammunition requirements are minimum and may be exceeded. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and appropriate (level one/level two) course completion certificates(s)

The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate.
Defensive Pistol starts with time in the classroom covering and reviewing defensive topics. Upon successful completion of holster draw training, you will transition to the range for continued education of defensive skills. three-hours classroom, and four-hours of live fire range exercises, utilizing approximately 250 rounds of ammunition.
Note: You must have basic handgun knowledge and be able to demonstrate how to safely use your firearm. This is an intermediate level training class. You should already be proficient and safe with your handgun, prior to taking this class.

Defensive Pistol II picks up where Defensive Pistol lets off.
​
The Defensive Pistol II Course will continue focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to continue to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. Students will have a deeper understanding on how to apply the Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, change in positions and a final timed stage of moving and shooting.
Defensive Pistol starts with a brief 1-hour classroom session covering and reviewing defensive topics. Upon successful review of holster draw techniques, you will transition to the range for continued education of defensive skills. This will be six-hours of live fire range exercises, utilizing approximately 400 rounds of ammunition, with moving and shooting from multiple positions and location.
Note: You must have comprehensive handgun knowledge and be able to demonstrate how to safely use your firearm. This is an advanced level training class. You should already be proficient and safe with your handgun, prior to taking this class. Proof of prior defensive training required prior to enrollment into this course.

Our All-Women’s Basic Handgun Class is a refreshing change from the normal. We’ve modeled it after our detailed oriented, NRA Basics of Pistol class. We’ll provide a relaxed, well rounded training approach, just for women.
Pistol, ammunition, eyes and ear protection are all provided. This is an 8 hr. live-fire class.
